Declaration of Quorum
Kids Triathlon Presentation: Ron Schmidt and 2 other gentleman who are past participants in adult triathlons presented their ideas for a “kids triathlon”. They were exploring the possibility of having it at Har-Ber Meadows. They need an area with closed access to traffic and thought Har-Ber Meadows would be an ideal location for the event. They are requesting the pool and surrounding area. They are a non-profit organization but do charge the participants in hopes to sustain the project and provide further training. They anticipate to reach out to people within a 100 mile radius and estimate 100-300 people. The possibility of some preliminary training in the neighborhood is possible. It would take two days to set up for the event, then a day for the event and tear down. Summer 2013 is the target date to start with the possibility of yearly renewal. They left a packet of some documentation with board members and will return for the June board meeting with a more detailed plan. The board did not, at this time, make any commitment to permit this event.
Minutes: presented by Nancy Owens. George Kelly moved, seconded by Jerry Martin to approve the April 2012 Minutes. The motion passed 9-0.
Financials: presented by Alicia Hines.
Annual Meeting Follow Up: Jason Combs stated that he received good reports and comments concerning the meeting in Founder’s Park. Nominations for officers will occur at the July Meeting.
“No Knock Policy”: City Councilman Brad Bruns would like to address the “No Knock Policy” with the neighborhood and provide stickers that residents could place on their doors. Signs may be picked up at City Hall. We will send an email blast to the neighborhood.
Donation to Bernice Young Elementary: Last month, the PTA asked for a donation from the POA to buy exercise stations around the outdoor track at BYE. After discussion, Jerry Martin moved to decline making the donation using POA funds. The motion was seconded by Jamey Smithson. The motion passed 7-2.
Open hole in field south of Young’s Farm Road and Doris Ave.: John Duke report that Tanya Patrick with 1st Security Bank is in the process of getting the manhole fixed. It just isn’t done yet.
Movie in the Park: Judy Hammond added that she would like to explore the possibility of having movies in the parks of HBM. She will talk to Mary Schmidt.
Executive Session: A closed executive session was briefly called.
With no further business, Judy Hammond moved, seconded by Jamey Smithson to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
Respectfully submitted this 25th day of June 2012.
